In 1999, "长白山" (Changbai Mountain) was successfully developed and launched into the market, marking the end of Jilin's tobacco industry lacking a self-owned advantageous brand. By the end of 2001, the hard box red "长白山" was recognized by the Jilin provincial government as the only famous cigarette product in the province. Since then, the development momentum of the 长白山 brand series has been strong; in 2006, the "长白山" cigarette trademark was recognized as a well-known trademark in China by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce; in 2008, the "长白山" brand was listed as one of the 20 key backbone brands for assessment by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
