The Zhaotong Tobacco Factory assisted in the research and development of this new product, while the National Poverty Alleviation Fund oversaw the import of equipment and coordinated the trademark for the "Diaoyutai" brand cigarettes. Later, due to a merger of manufacturers, "Diaoyutai" came to be produced by the Hongyun Honghe Group's Kunming Cigarette Factory.
