
The "熊猫" (Xiongmao) brand is an ultra-premium label from the Shanghai Tobacco Group Co., Ltd. In 1956, as a special tribute among the "Eight Greats," the Shanghai Cigarette Factory No. 2 launched the "熊猫牌" (Xiongmao) cigarettes. At that time, the panda was a special supply cigarette, not available for public sale. After 1997, Shanghai Tobacco began to sell Xiongmao cigarettes to the public. On June 24, 2004, in recognition of the brand's quality, "熊猫" (Xiongmao) became the second brand, following "中华" (Zhonghua), to receive the origin mark registration certificate from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China. The origin mark registration system is a widely adopted practice internationally aimed at protecting national economic and trade interests. The WTO's Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights includes origin marks, especially geographical indications, as crucial elements of intellectual property protection, with countries worldwide viewing them as vital tools for safeguarding national economic interests. The acquisition of the origin mark registration certificate for "熊猫" (Xiongmao) cigarettes has positively contributed to enhancing their international competitiveness, granting "熊猫" an "international passport" to enter the global cigarette market.
“熊猫”品牌是上海烟草集团有限责任公司超高端品牌。 1956年,作为“八大”的献礼特制卷烟,上海卷烟二厂推出“熊猫牌”卷烟。当时熊猫是特供香烟,不上市销售。1997年后,上海烟草开始向社会发售熊猫香烟。 2004年6月24日,作为对品牌品质的高度认同,“熊猫”牌继“中华”牌之后,成为又一个获得国家质量监督检验检疫总局颁发的原产地标记注册产品证的品牌。原产地标记注册制度是国际上广泛开展的一种旨在维护国家经贸利益、实施贸易保护的做法。WTO《关于与贸易有关的知识产权协定》将原产地标记特别是地理标志列入知识产权保护的重要内容,世界各国都把它作为维护国家经贸利益的重要手段。此次“熊猫”牌卷烟获得原产地标记注册产品证,对增强“熊猫”烟的国际竞争力起到了积极的作用,为“熊猫”走出国门、走向世界卷烟市场签发了一份“国际护照”。
