The "长寿" (Changshou) brand of cigarettes originated from the Taipei Tobacco Factory in Taiwan, launched in 1958. It is now a brand under Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, holding a remarkable 48% market share in Taiwan, recognized as the "number one cigarette brand in Taiwan." As the leading brand among Taiwanese cigarettes, "长寿香烟" (Changshou Xiangyan) is regarded by Taiwanese consumers as the equivalent of "中华" (Zhonghua), having won the highest international quality medal at the World Tobacco and Liquor Evaluation for three consecutive years. In mainland China, "长寿" cigarettes are imported by China National Tobacco Corporation, with Taiwan International Network Co., Ltd. as the designated agent. To cater to the mainland market, the "长寿" cigarettes sold there differ from those sold in Taiwan, the most notable change being the packaging, which has been transformed from a square shape to an octagonal one, and the use of simplified Chinese characters.
